Government prohibits Postpaid SMS Service in Jammu and Kashmir
Government has prohibited the SMS service for its postpaid customers in Jammu and Kashmir. DoT has asked all operators to stop their text message service in Jammu and Kashmir.
Also prepaid customers are allowed to send only 10 SMSes per day per subscriber. All operators are asked to stop providing all tariff packages giving free SMS service. All this is done for the sake of national security issues.
“In case of existing post-paid users, the service should be withdrawn immediately,” a statement from DoT said.
“SMS messages originated outside J&K service area in India and from the networks of International Long Distance (ILD) operators should not be delivered to Mobile subscribers in J&K service area,” the statement said.
Government has ordered to put it into effect and implement it across the state.
