Idea Launches GSM Service in Meghalaya

Idea Cellular Pvt Limited has expanded its operations in the North East by starting Idea GSM 2.75G EDGE services in Meghalaya

Now 2 lac Indians in major towns of Meghalaya - Shillong, Nongpoh, Jowai district of East Khasi Area, Jantia Hills and Ri Boi will be covered by the Idea GSM network in Meghalaya. Idea GSM recent launch in Assam and now in Meghalaya is aimed at strengthening Idea Cellular's presence in the North East region of the country

Idea has begun operations with two tariff plans for prepaid mobile users in Meghalaya. IDEA's 'Ek Se Badhkar Ek' tariff plans which enables the subscriber to pick between per second billing and per minute tariff plans. Uninor was the first service operator to introduce this choice to mobile users.

IDEA's per second tariff plan gives Local and STD calls at 1 paisa/ second for Meghalaya Idea subscribers. On the other hand, the per minute tariff plan gives Local calls at 40 paisa/ minute and STD at 60 paisa/ minute.
